50 Start-Ups Selected for 2018 Innovator Program
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The MedTech Conference – North America’s premier annual gathering for medical technology executives and professionals – will again be host to the grand finals of the MedTech Innovator competition when the conference meets this year in Philadelphia on Sept. 24-26.
The finals of the competition, where four medtech startups vie for more than $500,000 in cash prizes, scholarships, and in-kind services, is one of the highlights of The MedTech Conference powered by AdvaMed (the Advanced Medical Technology Association), and the culmination of an intense four-month program organized by MedTech Innovator, the leading nonprofit startup accelerator in the medical technology industry
Los Angeles-based MedTech Innovator has announced 50 companies have been selected to participate in its 2018 Accelerator and Showcase programs, including 25 early-stage and 25 mid-stage companies with transformative device, diagnostics, and digital health technologies.
“With each coming year, we’ve received an increasing number of applications from innovators in medtech, with a record-breaking 700 applicants for our 2018 program,” said Paul Grand, CEO of MedTech Innovator. “We’re thrilled to support these passionate entrepreneurs who are developing critical innovations to improve the lives of patients. This is a groundbreaking time for health care, and this list of 50 companies represents the future of cutting-edge technology in medtech.”
The 25 early-stage companies will participate in MedTech Innovator’s award-winning Accelerator program, in which emerging medtech startups are matched with health care industry leaders to receive customized mentorship and support.
The program culminates at The MedTech Conference in Philadelphia, where all 50 companies will present in Showcase panels and exclusive partnering. From the Accelerator cohort, four companies will advance to compete in the grand finals where the vote of the audience will determine the winners.
“The MedTech Innovator grand finals is one of the most exciting and anticipated sessions of The MedTech Conference,” said Ray Briscuso, AdvaMed’s executive vice president, Conferences and Events. “It brings together so many key players in the innovation ecosystem – entrepreneurs, physicians, scientists, engineers, CEOs, corporate development execs and investors – and showcases extremely impressive new technologies that will have a dramatic and positive impact on patient care. Plus, you get the drama of a live episode of ‘Shark Tank with audience voting.’ What could be better!”
