2026 Innovator Summit: Bridging Innovators, Shaping the future

The 2026 Innovator Summit, held June 2-4 in San Francisco, brought together the MedTech Innovator (MTI) , BioTools Innovator (BTI), MedTech Innovator Asia Pacific (APAC), and U.S. Market Access Program cohorts, alongside program partners, mentors, judges, and alumni. Over three days, attendees immersed themselves in educational sessions, networking opportunities, panel discussions, and collaborative conversations designed to accelerate innovation and strengthen the connections that power the healthcare ecosystem.

Before the broader Summit officially began, the U.S. Market Access Program cohort had already completed a full day of programming. This included mentoring sessions with value coaches and discussions focused on navigating and expanding into U.S. markets, laying the groundwork for the week ahead.

Meanwhile, the MTI and BTI cohorts kicked off their Summit experience at Topgolf in a relaxed and lively introduction that gave founders their first chance to get to know their fellow cohort members.

By the time the Summit officially opened the following morning, introductions had been made, connections were already forming, and the momentum was unmistakable.

2026 summit group conversing

At the heart of the Summit were two days of breakout sessions, small-group discussions, and the kind of serendipitous conversations that rarely fit neatly into an agenda. Founders participated in reverse pitches led by MTI partners, offering a unique look at unmet needs, strategic priorities, and collaboration opportunities across the healthcare landscape. Service Provider partners joined the conversation as well, sharing practical perspectives on the challenges and opportunities facing early-stage companies. Meanwhile, the BTI and APAC cohorts were having similar conversations with their counterparts.

The Summit also featured intimate discussions led by Innovator alumni who shared lessons learned from their entrepreneurial journeys. Topics ranged from fundraising and commercialization to leadership, reimbursement, regulatory strategy, and scaling for growth.

Companies participating in MTI’s specialized tracks took advantage of dedicated programming tailored to their areas of focus. Companies selected for the American Heart Association Heart (AHA) & Brain Health Track met with AHA leaders to learn more about the clinical expertise, key opinion leader networks, and strategic resources available throughout the program year. Participants in the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) Plastic Surgery Track connected with mentors and industry experts advancing innovation in plastic and reconstructive surgery. Companies in the BTI VANGUARD Track attended the program introduction and discussed the critical role of biotechnology innovation in strengthening health security.

What made the Summit especially valuable wasn’t any single session. It was the collective impact of bringing founders together in one place. Throughout the week, meaningful conversations unfolded between sessions, over coffee, and around shared challenges, often leading to the most memorable insights and connections.

“Selection for the MTI accelerator is incredible external validation – it has boosted our credibility in the industry, and particularly with investors. We have only just started the program, but I feel like we have crammed 5 years of networking into 1 week!”
-James Stone, CEO Cannulight Technology

Networking extended far beyond the conference sessions. Cohort companies gathered for small-group dinners with partners, creating space for candid conversations and meaningful relationship-building. Alumni came together for an informal meetup to reconnect, share lessons learned, and exchange insights from their entrepreneurial journeys. The MTI & APAC cohort and partners also joined an evening reception, fostering new connections and strengthening relationships across the region’s rapidly growing innovation ecosystem.

The Summit’s final morning began with an opportunity for attendees to join a morning stroll with MedTech Innovator Founder and CEO Paul Grand and program leaders. The informal gathering provided a welcome change of pace and created space for continued conversation, reflection, and connection before the day’s events began.

Showcases and the Vision Award

On June 4, 24 MTI alumni took the stage at the MedTech Innovator Showcase during the Wilson Sonsini Healthcare Conference (MDC), sharing their progress and connecting with more than 75 investors and industry leaders in attendance. The following day, 84 companies from the 2026 MTI, APAC, and U.S. Market Access cohorts presented their innovations, showcasing the breadth and diversity of technologies advancing through the programs.

One of the Summit’s most anticipated moments was the Vision Award. Finalists are chosen through the collective judgment of the cohort and MTI’s partners: founders, investors, and industry experts who know how hard this work is. That’s what gives the recognition its weight: it comes from people qualified to spot what sets a company apart.

The 2026 finalists were BrainMatterz Inc. (Peter Hegi), Cerevia (Ida Garakani), Galenbrand (Eddie McDaid), and ZONOVA (Georgia Fleet).

During the Vision Award Competition at the MDC, the winner was determined by a live audience vote, with the $25,000 prize distributed among the finalists according to the percentage of votes received. ZONOVA earned the largest share of the audience vote and was named the recipient of the 2026 MedTech Innovator Vision Award.
