IntelliDrain

IntelliDrain is a medical device startup company commercializing a novel thoracic drainage device based on internationally-acclaimed research and a surgeon-inspired invention from Northwestern University hospital. After lung resection surgery, current methods provide only subjective information on whether or not a patient’s lung has healed and if discharge is appropriate. Conservative decisions and extra days in the hospital result because premature removal of a chest tube can lead to life-threatening conditions and readmissions.
IntelliDrain provides quantitative, patient-centric analyses to provide individualized therapy that results in accelerated healing and reduced length of stay. The core device technology has been validated in over 240 patients and the company is raising a seed round of investment to design and produce clinical units for an eventual 2017 launch.
