Description
Currently, cystoscopy is performed through a 3 piece rigid metal system which needs assembly before use and it is cumbersome, complicated, expensive, and not always available. The procedure has remained largely unchanged for over 3 decades. In addition, it mandates multiple instances of urethral instrumentation, increasing risk of infection and urethral trauma. The CystoSure™ system replaces the cystoscope with a flexible catheter that will function as a traditional urinary drainage catheter but it adds a significant feature with its visualization port. Anytime a diagnostic visual inspection of the bladder is desired, the CystoSure™ scope is inserted directly into the visualization port of the catheter eliminating the need to remove the catheter, insert the traditional 3 piece cystoscope and reinsert a new drainage catheter.
