MedTech Innovator 2026 Finalists. Mid-Stage Grand Prize: Axoft, Portal Instruments, Tau Medical, Vektor Medical, VIS. Execution Award: Cerevia Neurosciences, GenAssist, Lenneuro, Lucentia, Optheras

LOS ANGELES – October 16, 2026 – MedTech Innovator (MTI), the world’s largest and most impactful accelerator for medical technology startups, today announced the finalists in its 2026 Mid-Stage and Execution Award Competitions.

The 2026 Mid-Stage and Execution Award competitions will take place during the MedTech Strategist Innovation Summit in San Diego, with the Execution Award Competition taking place on Tuesday, November 3, at 5:05 p.m., and the Mid-Stage Competition finals taking place on Wednesday, November 4, at 5:40 p.m. During the competitions, each company will pitch their technology and answer questions from a panel of judges. After the presentations, the audience will vote in real-time to select each winner.

The Mid-Stage Finals Competition was launched in 2023 to allow more mature companies in the accelerator cohort to compete for recognition and cash awards. The mid-stage companies were chosen based on their value propositions, achievements to date, and likelihood to transform care. Each finalist will receive at least $25,000 in funding and have the chance to compete for the $200,000 Mid-Stage Grand Prize Award.

The five finalists who will compete for the 2026 Mid-Stage Prize are:

  • Axoft (Cambridge, Mass.): developing a neural interface "as soft as the brain" to diagnose disorders of consciousness and establish communication with patients.

  • Portal Instruments (Cambridge, Mass.): developing PRIME NEXUS™, a software-defined drug delivery platform enabling fast, precise subcutaneous delivery of high-volume and high-viscosity biologics, bringing new infusion-class therapies into the home.

  • Tau Medical (Yangsan, South Korea): developing a transcatheter tricuspid repair spacer: a minimally invasive, flow-guided system to treat tricuspid regurgitation while preserving the heart’s native anatomy.

  • Vektor Medical (San Diego): developing vMap, a non-invasive, AI-enabled technology that identifies likely arrhythmia sources from a standard 12-lead ECG to support faster, safer and more effective ablation.

  • VIS (Plano, Texas): developing Opti-K®, a patented laser vision correction device and procedure for treating multiple indications through a noninvasive, painless, repeatable, and rapid procedure.

"We’re pleased to partner with the MedTech Strategist Innovation Summit in San Diego to host the finals of our Mid-Stage and Execution Award competitions," said Kathryn Zavala, COO and Managing Director of MedTech Innovator. "This partnership gives our finalists an opportunity to showcase their innovations and connect with key decision-makers, including strategics and investors. Whether advancing new technologies or scaling solutions already in the market, these companies demonstrate the execution and potential to make a lasting impact on healthcare."

In addition to the Grand Prize, five companies will compete for the Execution Award. The award recognizes strong leadership teams with value-adding innovations and a demonstrated track record of successfully executing their plan to improve patient care. The Execution Award winner will be selected by the audience at The MedTech Strategist Innovation Summit and receive $25,000.

The five finalists for the 2026 Execution Award are:

  • Cerevia Neurosciences (North Bethesda, Md.): developing the Ladybug Sanctuary, a NeuroAI-powered precision fMRI-guided closed-loop network neuromodulation platform, designed to improve cognitive function in dementia.

  • GenAssist (St. Louis): developing implantable biomaterial scaffolds that help the body regenerate functional skeletal muscle after traumatic injuries, restoring strength and mobility.

  • Lenneuro (Colville, Wash.): developing SnapCath™ which covers and anchors tubes with a clear, snap-on lid. Just pop the top for easy catheter care at all skill levels.

  • Lucentia (New York): developing the mammogram of the heart: AI that turns routine non-contrast cardiac CT into Virtual CCTA for earlier, more accessible coronary disease detection.

  • Optheras (Birkerod, Denmark): developing ATLAS, a compact investigational laser treatment platform designed to enable superficial bladder cancer treatment in the procedure room instead of the operating room, without general anesthesia.

MTI tapped over 500 subject-matter experts to evaluate thousands of applicants and mentor the 65 best-in-class companies participating in MTI’s flagship five-month US market-focused accelerator program. The 2026 Cohort features 47 early-stage and 18 mid-stage medical device, diagnostic, and digital health companies from around the globe, whose leadership teams received unparalleled mentoring, networking, and access to the resources that only MTI’s world-leading ecosystem of strategic manufacturers, investors, healthcare providers, payers, patients, and other industry stakeholders can offer. All 65 companies will be showcased at The MedTech Conference in Boston on October 18-21.
