Nanowear Wins 2017 Execution Award at The MedTech Conference

San Jose, Sept 25, 2017– AdvaMed Accel and MedTech Innovator announced that Nanowear has been awarded the 2017 Virginia Shimer Rybski Memorial Award and MedTech Innovator Execution Award, which recognizes the potential of a promising entrepreneur or entrepreneurial medical technology company.

Nanowear is developing a wearable remote monitoring alert garment for the management of congestive heart failure. The company is based in New York.

“The six MedTech Innovator Accelerator companies selected to compete for this prestigious award outperformed expectations in demonstrating that they have what it takes to successfully execute on their ambitious plans,” said Paul Grand, CEO, MedTech Innovator. “These start ups have strong leadership teams that have been highly engaged in our program, and their tremendous progress over the past four months during our Accelerator made our selection committee confident that they can fulfill our mission to improve the lives of patients and have a transformative impact on health care.”

“Nanowear represents what is so great about the medical technology industry:  a strong entrepreneurial spirit combined with next-generation innovation with the goal of improving patient care,“ added Ashley Wittorf, executive director, AdvaMed Accel. “With receipt of this award, Nanowear is one step closer to bringing their technology to patients and their physicians, and we are excited to have helped move this process forward.”

The Virginia Shimer Rybski Memorial Award was created to encourage the enthusiastic pursuit of business excellence in the medical technology industry. It is named after the late entrepreneur and patient care advocate Virginia Rybski, president and CEO of Regenesis Biomedical and a member of AdvaMed’s Board of Directors and the association’s Accel Executive Committee, who passed away in 2013. The award is presented each year during the association’s annual meeting to a single presenting company or entrepreneur.

The award, presented jointly by AdvaMed Accel and MedTech Innovator, was awarded to Nanowear following a live audience vote during the AdvaMed Accel Leadership Seminar during the MedTech Conference powered by AdvaMed in San Jose.

This year’s award includes:

  • A $10,000 grant from AdvaMed Accel and a $15,000 prize from MedTech Innovator to be applied towards expenses required for commercializing an innovative medical technology;
  • Complimentary membership in AdvaMed for one year; and
  • A complimentary full-access registration to The MedTech Conference in Philadelphia, September 24-26, 2018.
