C-SATS

Developed at the University of Washington by a team of surgeons, biostatisticians and engineers, C-SATS helps healthcare organizations achieve better outcomes by ensuring that practitioners use great technique and adhere to proper protocols. It is a fact that technical skill impact clinical outcomes. Poor performers generate 2.5 times more readmissions, 3 times more complications, and 5 times more deaths than top performers. With an initial focus on surgical skills, C-SATS utilizes a unique combination of distributed experts, anonymous reviewers, and inter-operative video reviews to assess practitioners’ performance with accuracy equivalent to gold standards all at a 90 percent savings in cost and time. Medical centers across the U.S. and Canada have completed 1 million assessments with C-SATS for a variety of uses, some of which include credentialing and privileging, residency and training, and continuous quality improvement.
