Encellin has partnered with Breakthrough T1D to advance ENCRT-103-hPI, the next generation of its encapsulated cell replacement therapy for Type 1 Diabetes, into the clinic. The program builds on the company’s first-in-human study, which showed non-fibrotic tissue integration, host vascularization and viable human islets within retrieved implants. The new Phase 1 study (NCT07680673), to be conducted in Canada with support from an award through Breakthrough T1D’s Industry Discovery and Development Partnership program, will test whether Encellin’s immune-protective implant can shield transplanted islets without the need for systemic immunosuppression.
