Boston-based startup accelerator MassChallenge awarded $100,000 prizes to three of the “highest-impact” companies from its 2016 class at a ceremony on Wednesday night.
- Adhesys Medical, a Texas healthcare and life sciences company that develops next-generation surgical glues based on polyurethane.
- EYL, a Korean company that secures the Internet of Things with an affordable micro quantum random number generator using radioisotope, replacing less secure software.
- TellusLabs, a Massachusetts-based applied science company that turns satellite imagery and other Earth data into the basis for better decisions.
Two more companies – “in-orbit data relay service” Analytical Space and customer data security company TapLink – won $75,000 prizes. Both firms are based in the Bay State.
Eleven companies won $50,000 prizes. For a full list of winners, visit the MassChallenge website here.
The 128 companies in the 2016 MassChallenge Boston program were culled from 17,000 applicants, according to the MassChallenge. The nonprofit takes no equity in its companies and has accelerated more than 1,200 startups to date.
