Webinars are one hour in length and are live-streamed on our YouTube Channel. They will also be recorded and available for later viewing.

The goal of the MedTech Innovator webinars is to provide the medtech ecosystem and our portfolio companies with feedback from experts and professionals in areas that are specific to the strategic needs outlined in our discussions and surveys. Strategic areas to be covered include: intellectual property, product development, commercialization, reimbursement, healthcare economics, regulatory strategy, clinical trial design and execution, and fundraising.

Our webinars are administered virtually and consist of one or more panelists addressing key questions supplied in advance by the MedTech Innovator Asia Pacific Accelerator & Showcase companies, as well as a general discussion on the topic within the context of the evolving healthcare ecosystem.

Sachin Dubey, Module Innovations

Sachin is a Nanotechnologist and a med-tech innovator with experience in developing diagnostics for human diseases. He is the Co-Founder and CEO of Module Innovations working on precision diagnostics for infectious diseases and Anti-Microbial
Resistance (AMR). He has been the project leader for several healthcare Innovation projects funded by DST-GoI, DBT-GoI,
BIRAC, Nesta-UK, BMGF, Grand Challenges Canada (GCC), Titan, Tata Trusts and CARB-X, USA. As active innovator Sachin holds
several patents on technologies in healthcare innovations. Sachin was accorded as top 10 Innovators of India by India Innovations
Growth Program (IIGP 2.0) in 2017. With a B.Tech and M.Tech in Nanotechnology, Sachin is a Chevening CRISP Fellow from the
University of Oxford, UK.

Jim West, BioTools Innovator

Jim is an engineer turned entrepreneur. With a master’s in both Biomedical Engineering Product Development and Entrepreneurship, he blends the business with the technical. Jim previously worked in life sciences and medical devices helping to bring new products to market. He served as Co-Founder and CEO of his most recent company, Clara Biotech, which was founded in 2018 and was acquired by Innovaprep in the summer of 2023.

Dr Joseph Mocanu, Verge HealthTech Funding

Joseph is a co-founder and Managing Partner of Verge HealthTech Fund focusing on early-stage healthcare technology companies that make an impact on global health. Prior to this, Joseph was a scientist researching new cancer therapies, a medical device entrepreneur, and a management consultant for Oliver Wyman where he led life sciences and digital health across Asia. He has 19 scientific publications, 3 patents, and has made investments in 29 healthcare technology companies to date.

Joseph has a PhD from the University of Toronto, and an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business.

Patrick O'Neill, MedTech Advantage Fund

Venture Investor who is passionate about finding ways to help entrepreneurs succeed. Extensive investment experience focused on early-stage companies in the medtech and climate tech sectors as lead investor and board member. Experienced in sourcing, investing and mentoring startups across the venture ecosystem from formation to exit. Core competencies in private company governance, strategic planning, and portfolio management.

Ashley Wittorf, Johnson & Johnson Medtech

Ashley Wittorf is responsible for sparking collaborations with groundbreaking healthcare companies and institutions across Asia Pacific as the regional business development lead for Johnson & Johnson MedTech. Ashley joined Johnson & Johnson in August of 2021 following an extensive career in the medical device industry. In her previous role, Ashley was a resident operating partner for medical device private equity firm Revival Healthcare Capital. Prior to Revival, Ashley spent more than eight years at the Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed) where she served as executive director of AdvaMed Accel; in this role, she was responsible for the creation and management of a new division focused on emerging-growth medical technology companies. While at AdvaMed, Ashley also managed the association’s relationships with the broader investment community from angel investors to Wall Street’s top equity analysts. Prior to joining AdvaMed, Ashley spent nearly ten years working in the MedTech and pharmaceutical industries with roles in product development, operations, marketing, and business development and strategy for both small, venture-backed enterprises and for large corporations, including Eli Lilly and Medtronic. Bringing her seasoned expertise in MedTech innovation, Ashley has served in several advisory capacities, including on the board of MedTech Innovator and through U.S. government-related initiatives including FDA’s CDRH Entrepreneurs-in-Residence Program and the NIH HEAL Partnership Committee. Ashley holds a master’s degree in bioengineering and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. She also holds an MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business. She currently resides in Singapore with her husband and two daughters.

Felicia Chung, Olympus Corporation

Felicia leads Olympus’ business development efforts for APAC and China regions, as well as Global Urology and Single-Use.

This includes identifying strategic opportunities for Olympus that drive complementary and/or innovative growth within the exciting Medtech space.

Under Felicia’s thought leadership, she initiated, lead and announced Olympus’ first ever APAC Innovation Program (“OAIP”) which was launched out of the APAC region.

The Program aims support the innovation ecosystem, identify and collaborate with Visionaries in this part of the world. Felicia sees APAC and China as very promising regions comprising of a hotbed of innovative and bold ideas, especially in the fields of digital and AI solutions.

Prior to joining Olympus, Felicia served in similar corporate development positions with other Corporates (Linde AG and Cargill, Inc.), executing M&A transactions from 2016 to 2021.

This follows her prior experience and interest in M&A transaction execution, which saw her career commencing at Citi Investment Banking in 2008 and subsequently Deutsche Bank in 2014.

Hin Au, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati

Hin Au is a patent attorney in the Palo Alto office of Wilson Sonsini where he is a member of the patents and innovations practice. He provides intellectual property (IP) strategy and counseling services to healthcare and technology companies across all stages of growth, and as the companies undergo venture financings and other transactional milestones (M&A’s and IPO’s). He also leads initiatives focusing on the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and patents, and works with client to navigate new legal considerations as AI continues to advance. Hin has a MS in Mechanical Engineering from MIT and previously worked as an R&D engineer for six years in the semiconductor industry prior to becoming a patent attorney.

Magnus Gan, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati

Magnus Gan is a technology transactions attorney at Wilson Sonsini. Born and raised in Singapore, Magnus moved to the U.S. a decade ago inspired by dreams of becoming a Silicon Valley technology lawyer. He spent his foundational years learning the art of patent preparation, prosecution, and defending and invalidating software and medical devices patents on behalf of household Silicon Valley names, and later parlayed that experience into drafting and negotiating commercial agreements for the use, development, and commercialization of such technologies. These early experiences in tech form the bedrock for Magnus’ current practice as a life sciences technology transactions attorney, where he routinely counsels early-stage MedTech and digital health clients on licensing, CDMO, CRO, joint venture, supply, distribution, and other such IP-focused transactions.

Harry Evans, Herbert Smith Freehills

Harry is co-head of the firm’s Asia (ex-China) pharmaceutical sector and is passionate about the life sciences and healthcare sectors.

He has 15 years’ experience advising clients on business-critical Information Technology, Intellectual Property and general commercial issues. He has led on a wide range of complex, multi-jurisdictional and high-value commercial arrangements, including: (i) technology/IP development, licensing, and commercialisation agreements; (ii) JVAs and commercial collaborations; and (iii) the IP aspects of M&A transactions, including minority investments.

Jessica Richter, Veranex

Jessica is Veranex’s Executive Vice President, CRO & Consulting Services where she directs client communications, business development, resource planning, project accounting, and results across clinical trial strategy/execution, clinical data services, regulatory affairs, quality/compliance, market access, and reimbursement. Jessica also establishes policies that promote the organization’s diverse culture and strategic vision. Prior to Veranex, Jessica led sales and market development teams within Medtronic’s Minimally Invasive Therapies Group (MITG) where she successfully spearheaded high-impact projects in the areas of strategic sales planning, physician education, collaboration with patient advocacy groups, and corporate project management. Jessica has also held sales roles of increasing responsibility within the medical device, software, and communications arenas. Jessica is a passionate health care leader with experience in medical devices and diagnostics, specializing in surgical, oncology, aesthetics, and gastroenterology technologies. Jessica earned her BA in Communications and Business Administration from the University of California at Berkeley.

Ajay Nair, The Mullings Group

Ajay Nair has more than 22 years’ experience in the Global Medical Device Industry, having held positions in New Product Development, Sales, Sales Education, International Marketing and Market Access, with multi-national companies (Ethicon Inc., Covidien, Eli Lilly, Medtronic) along with 10+ years of roles in leadership (General Management and Global Vice President) and increasing P&L responsibilities at Ossur and most recently WillowWood Global. Ajay’s expertise is in developing market entry strategies and leading cross-functional teams to launch products and services in target markets. His experience spans launching products in the US, EMEA and for almost 11 years within Asia Pacific inclusive of China. He now leads the international business for The Mullings Group (TMG) and is based in the Asia Pacific Region, splitting his time between Singapore and Perth, Australia. He holds a MBA in International Business and Marketing from the Thunderbird Global School of Management and a degree in Bioengineering from Arizona State University.

Anand Sivaraman, Remidio

Dr. Anand Sivaraman is the co-founder and CEO of Remidio Innovative Solutions, based in Bangalore, India, Remidio builds innovative, AI-enabled products for the screening and diagnosis of eye diseases for use in non-specialist contexts such as public health centers, primary care centers and vision centers, in India and the US.

Anand completed his Master’s, Doctoral, and Postdoctoral degrees in Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Boston before returning to India in 2005. His research and entrepreneurship interests lie at the intersection of technology and public
health.
